Are You Just Peeking?

 John 20:1-10

I think it’s a little comical that when Mary Magdalene told Peter and the other disciple that Jesus had risen the “other disciple” ran ahead of Peter but when he arrived at the tomb he didn’t go inside. The Bible says the “other disciple” outran Peter and when he reached the tomb first he bent over and looked in, but did not go in. But when Peter arrived he went into the tomb without hesitation and then the “other disciple” followed him. What was he afraid of? He walked with Jesus just as Peter did and experienced the same miracles and teachings.
The disciples reaction reminds me of how some of God’s people are today, they only touch the surface of following Christ. They believe in God go to Church but take no action in developing a personal relationship with Christ through prayer and reading the Bible. God says it takes more than just believing that he exist demons believe Jesus exist. There must be actions that take place to demonstrate Christ is your Lord and Savior and your entire being depends on him. God is saying to the Church today “I don’t just want your Sunday morning service, or your offering I want you completely! Don’t just look on as a spectator get to know me as your personal Savior.” It is only through a personal relationship with Christ that we grow and advance in every area of out life. So lets run to Jesus and enter into his presence daily, God delights in us and longs for our personal fellowship with him.
